“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
Somewhere between the time when the woman with the issue of blood was healed and Jesus commended for her faith, and Jairus’ daughter was raised from the dead and Jesus commended him for his faith, and the Centurion soldier’s servant was healed by a word from Jesus, and He commended him for His faith; somewhere between those events and the teaching of faith today, faith has gotten a very bad rap!
Among some Christians the subject of faith is merely a by-word to dismiss whole segments of believers as those “Word of faith” people. Some more mockingly call it the “Blab it and grab it” crowd!” And still a great many dismiss any consideration of the subject beyond a convenient reference to their religious sect, denomination, or church.
Despite all this, faith in God and His Word is still fundamental to the walk of every true believer, if we are ever going to experience the life more abundantly that Jesus came to bring us, or indeed receive anything from God that we don’t access by faith.
We cannot thrive or even survive without faith. Admittedly there have been some abuses by some teaching faith, who sought to use it as a means of manipulation for selfish gain. Nevertheless, without faith we cannot please God. Likewise, without faith in God we flounder and falter, an easily fall prey to the lies and deceptions of the devil, who walks about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.
Faith in God and His Word is the only true anchor for our souls, to keep us grounded in His wisdom, His strength, His power, His authority and THE life-giving Spirit of Truth.
